Improving SAP Upgrades and Support-Package Projects

If you have ever gone through an SAP Upgrade or Support-Package Project, you know how frustrating and time consuming the process can be. While SAP supports its customers during the upgrade process by providing technical capabilities to aid in the adaptation of the modified SAP Standard Workbench Objects, they do not provide any analysis capabilities for the Customer Developed Workbench Objects. That means if you have many custom developed programs, there are potential risks for the occurrence of coding errors in the project which take time and effort to research and resolve.

No Manual Labor

Currently the Customer Developed Workbench Objects must be recognized, analyzed and changed to allow for the delivery of the functionality they were configured for in the SAP R/3 Landscape. This is a manual effort that takes time and ultimately money to resolve. Now there is a new tool that streamlines the processes by analyzing the Customer Developed Objects and their dependencies on the modified SAP Workbench Objects delivered in the Change/Upgrade Process.

A New Solution

With the U:RforU Tool, the analysis time for an average 2000 custom developed programs is shortened to less than 1 hour.

After checking all of the programs for syntax errors this screen indicates which items have syntax errors and which do not.

Once the project is installed it becomes an integral part of your SAP system. You can use it time and time again in support of your system. The U:RforU tool remains in place after the Upgrade, continuing to monitor the system. It will provide help integrating future Support Packages by identifying all User Developed Objects touched by the Support Package.
